Revealing ZoraSounds_of_Mapping1.html

With Italo Calvino’s Imaginary Cities providing the central text, Revealing Zora is an eight cannel sound installation with a projected map on the floor.  The text of Calvino’s story is overlaid along the contours of a topographic map of Athens, GA.  The projected map is triggered by the motion of the viewer.  As the viewer moves in the space the text is revealed.  Just as the image is almost complete the viewer’s motion begins erasing the text.  The motion of the viewer triggers the text while it makes the audio diminish.  As the viewer moves closer to any of the eight speakers, which are located in the eight corners of the room, the volume decreases.  The actors are reading the text which is on the floor of the room.
